Alanna Sapwell x Analiese Gregory x Bar Rochford | Lunch

Date: Sunday 28 March
Lunch Sitting Times: 12:00pm, 12:30pm, 1:00pm
Venue: Bar Rochford, First Floor, 65 London Circuit, Canberra ACT 2601

Hold on to your hats, Canberra! Good Food Month presented by Citi is flying Alanna Sapwell, former head chef of ARC Dining (Brisbane) and Saint Peter (Sydney), and Analiese Gregory (who recently departed Hobart’s two-hatter, Franklin) into town for two delicious events at everyone’s favourite watering hole, Bar Rochford.

Alanna is bringing her pop-up restaurant Esmay with her, which recently wowed lucky diners in Brisbane (as part of Good Food Month) and Noosa. Forage-master Analiese, author of the recently published How Wild Things Are, cites Sydney’s three hat Quay, and Michelin-starred stalwarts The Ledbury, Mugaritz, and Michel Bras restaurants on her CV. However, this isn’t the first time Alanna and Analiese have worked together. They fired up the pans with New Zealand’s Monique Fiso at The Curated Plate culinary festival on the Sunshine Coast. This is, however, the first time they’ll be together in the kitchen at Bar Rochford; one of the most celebrated, adored and awarded uber-cool joints in the country. Join them for a multi-course lunch with matched wines (hand-selected by the team at Bar Rochford, no less).

Alanna trained at Noosa’s The River House before hitting the kitchens of Italy and Japan. She then wowed Sydney at hatted restaurant, Saint Peter, while working with the king of the sustainable seafood movement, acclaimed wunderkind Josh Niland. She left Sydneysiders brokenhearted as she returned to Brisbane to open ARC Dining, where she scooped up a chef’s hat within her first year of trading. Alanna’s trademark is to showcase regional produce with hyper-seasonal treasures, featuring ingredients sourced from local farms and waters.

Bar Rochford is an absolute favourite of Good Food Month with its rare combination of a seductive cocktail bar / award-winning wine bar (and a finalist in the 2019 Good Food Guide Best Bar Awards) / hatted restaurant, and playground of vinyl aficionados. It’s cool, but not pretentious, tasty, but humble and fun. Bar Rochford’s tagline is “Vins de Nature, Records & Fine Food” and that sums up this absolute gem of a venue that really is one of the country’s finest establishments.

We are ecstatic to join Alanna’s Esmay together with Analiese at Bar Rochford, but we do anticipate these two events will sell out quickly.
