Mitch Orr – the Sydney based pasta whizz, is bringing his renegade approach to Italian cooking to Perth for one night only.
Be prepared to go off-piste with this Prince of Pasta who, after beginning his career in a Parramatta pub, has since cut his teeth in some of Sydney’s highest profile kitchens including, Pilu at Freshwater and Sepia, along with overseas stints including a chef takeover series at London’s Michelin starred Lyle’s, and hosting his own pop-ups in Singapore. Mitch, together with three mates then took things into his own hands and created Sydney’s (former) favourite diner, ACME – home of his crowd favourite riff on carbonara, Macaroni, pig’s head and egg yolk pasta. And if that wasn’t enough to prove he’s down with dough and knows his pizza from his piazza, he also did a stint at Italy’s famous Osteria Francescana – twice rated the world’s best restaurant in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants List. Mitch’s pasta sure does pack a punch, and his innovative approach to Italian cuisine will leave your friends and family saying, “we want (a)more!”
Local food, drink and travel journalist and photographer, Max Veenhuyzen will put his own spin on things, as host and DJ of this fun, family-friendly evening, taking place on Perth’s stunning open-air event space, The Raft, which we’ve turned into the Good Food Month floating restaurant. Given Mitch is currently creating perfect plates for sitting by the ocean as the sun sets at Pilu’s new Baretto Nights wine bar, who better to come aboard and dish up delicious snacks while taking in water and Perth city views at sunset.
This fun evening will take place on Perth’s stunning open-air event space, The Raft. Anchored, you’ll float on the scenic Swan River, taking in water and Perth city views at sunset. You’ll be collected in style from Barrack Street Jetty by tender boats and taken out to the Good Food Month floating restaurant where you’ll enjoy multiple courses with wine and beer.
